Shan, Manas, and Aleem founded Mercer YOUTH (Youth Organization for Understanding and Teaching Mental Health) during their freshman year at Mercer University to raise awareness and educate high school students about mental health. Recognizing a significant need for mental health education among youth, the organization aimed to create an accessible and engaging platform that would provide crucial information and work towards destigmatizing mental health discussions. Through partnerships with the Mercer School of Medicine, Counseling and Psychological Services.
We deliver interactive and educational workshops promoting mental health awareness and destigmatization. We also present on mental health topics, including stress management, self-care, recognizing mental health challenges, and seeking help. These sessions are designed to make the information accessible and relatable, encouraging students to prioritize their mental well-being.
We also organize activities and campaigns that foster open discussions about mental health, breaking down barriers and misconceptions. By offering resources, such as brochures and access to mental health professionals, the organization ensures that students gain valuable knowledge and feel empowered to seek support when needed.
